Showcon!

So last weekend was my trip to Murfreesboro Tn for the first ever ShowCon. Let's just say it had every element of a Kimberly Dunaway's bad luck adventure. The show itself was small but fun but even it had its mishaps.
We end up having to leave late due to some technical issues with getting my prints from the printer and finishing up shirts and the fact that our dogs escaped from their kennel outside and were nowhere to be found.
So after the rough start we hit the road and after getting a good ways from Memphis and just a hair from Nashville...we have a blowout on the interstate. So change the tire to a spare and it the road again. We are running late and I hate to be late for a show. Hubby is determined to get there even if we are running low on gas.... He says we will make it, there is a station right around the corner from the venue. Yep we made it alright, a's in we barely make it into the pumps at the station by coasting across 4 lanes of traffic... Out of gas!
Somehow I should have seen the pattern here and run for the hills but no, I pushed on!
We get to the venue and it wasn't exactly what I expected it to be but that's ok.... I get all of my stuff in loaded and I'm giddy my guest table is right next to Dirk Benedict from Battlestar and The A-Team. After all he was the reason I discovered that boys weren't yucky back in the 80's.
Attendance was really small but I managed to sell some stuff and meet some great people and it was fun... Until draping for the panel area fell in and the thunder storm came through. Then it was work quick to save my table of prints and cards cause the ceiling started leaking. The horror!
Cut to the next day, I spent the day talking politics and macrobiotics with Dirk, and having a good time digging through comic vendors bins. I picked up some Star Wars figures and a couple of Spiderman things and did some fun sketches..... Then Ari Leman and his band First Jason decided to play. Needless to say death metal in a warehouse building radiates sound and pisses off Dirk Benedict. If you ever want to see your vendors pack up and leave quick.... That's how to do it. I love music but not when it's that loud. Maybe I'm getting old but that was just too much.
It was an experience to say the least but overall was fun and never dull.

Sketch Cards! Sketch Cards! New Sets in Progress!!!!

Hello All!

Well I am excited to say that I am now picked up for 4 sets of cards right now! Yay! I am back again on board for Breygent Marketing's Vampirella 2 Trading Card Set and their NEW! set Red Sonja! I will also be doing a few sketches of these characters for Comic Con 2012 and more line art color cards for the sets as well. I am super excited! I have already started to work on Red Sonja. I will have 50 cards in each set unless I finish these early and then there may be more. But we will see now that I have added these next two sets to the list....
Marvel Beginnings 2 and The Avengers Movie Trading Cards from Upper Deck! This is such a huge thing for me since I have never had the chance other than personal sketch cards or commissions to do something Marvel, much less something movie related. I am on for 90 cards each set for these, so I expect out of all the cards I am up for...I will be a busy busy girl for the next few months.

I will have Artist Proof Cards avaliable after the sets are released and not until then, but I am reserving spots now for those that are interested. For Vampirella and Red Sonja I will have a very limited number of Comic Con 2012 Artist Proof Cards avaliable for purchase.

I will be checking in with scans as they are approved :)

RIP Ian

Just found out that a friend of ours I haven't seen in awhile passed away last night, due to an auto accident. I really hated to hear this, much less to have to call Thom and tell him that this friend who was like a little brother to him was gone. My heart goes out to his family and all of his friends. He will defenately will be missed by many.
Ian was a sweetheart and so so funny. I remember Ian helping me out one night when the power had gone off and Thom wasn't home yet. Our oldest was only a month old at the time and I was freaked to sit in a dark apartment alone. Ian came by and took us and bought candles and then hung out with me until Thom got there so I wouldn't have to be alone. I really appreciated that even to this day. I always found the running joke between Thom and Ian when Thom would always ask Ian how his mom was and the usual answer being, "Fuck you Thom"... it never got old.
You will be missed my friend, safe travels.
